In 2007 Pretty Vilakazi’s premature baby was kept in an incubator. Sadly, the nurse who inserted the drip allegedly forgot to remove a band that was tied to Baby Vilakazi’s right thigh. When Pretty discovered the band her baby’s leg was swollen. Pretty was told that there was no other option but to amputate her leg. Luckily with the help from The Sowetan Newspaper baby Vilakazi’s leg was not amputated. Although her leg was saved the injuries caused permanent disabilities to her leg. Salomé le Roux Attorneys sued the hospital for medical negligence with great success.
